Readers competition: WIN a Microchip PICDEM Z demonstration kit
01 September 2007
PICDEM Z 2.4 GHz demonstration kit (DM163027-4) is an easy-to-use evaluation and development platform for IEEE 802.15.4 application designers. The kit includes Microchip’s MRF24J40 transceiver and also features Microchip’s PIC18 high-performance microcontroller family. It has all the hardware, software source code and PCB layout files needed to rapidly prototype wireless products.

A detailed application note is available at www.microchip.com/zigbee. The demonstration kit includes the ZigBee protocol stack and two PICDEM Z boards, each with an RF daughter card. The demonstration board is also equipped with a 6pin modular connector to interface directly with Microchip's MPLAB ICD 2 in-circuit debugger (DV164005).
With MPLAB ICD 2, the developer can reprogramme or modify the PIC18 MCU Flash memory and develop and debug application code all on the same platform. Microchip MPLAB IDE software is available for download on the Microchip web site at no charge. The ZigBee software stack is available from Microchip under a no-cost license agreement.
