Scope breaks 1Gpt bar to speedy HDTV

The hardware/software triggering system, InfiniiScan Plus is one of the main features of Agilent’s Infiniium 90000A oscilloscope. The triggering system enables 150psec hardware event identification and 75psec software event identification, providing better insight and superior signal integrity for infrequent events and signals.

The scope can capture 25msec at 40Gsample/sec on all four channels simultaneously, representing a 600 per cent increase over competing oscilloscopes, claims the company. It also opens up new technologies for Agilent, such as HDMI where this memory capacity is enough to capture the standard analogue high-definition TV signals; or disk drive analysis.

New features include deep application analysis, based on the company’s InfiniiScan Plus software. In addition to the trigger system’s speed, it has three levels of triggering, combining multiple hardware triggers including zone trigger which eliminates signal and isolates events in up to four zones for troubleshooting. The company will introduce delay and reset to the integrated software triggering system in the next three months, available as free upgrades to existing customers.

Applications include DDR, PCI Express, display Port, HDMI, serial ATA, serial attached SCSI, Ethernet, USB and wireless USB, jitter analysis, RF signal analysis, eye pattern analysis and protocol decoding .
