Plug and go USB design kit for SARah ADC family
23 April 2008
Plug in and evaluate; this industry-wide entry into the world of A/D converters is what is on offer from the USB format design kit for the low power SARah A/D converter family.

This is the ADC family which has been jointly designed and launched by German semi-conductor manufacturer ZDM AG and Rutronik Elektronische Bauelemente. Applications include industrial process control systems, measurement data recording systems, and analogue sensor signal processing.
The USB-based demonstration and development tool offers industrial customers fast accurate evaluation as well as their own circuit design, and therefore a short time to market. Included with the USB-based development tool is a range of support software, including an FFT (Fast Fourier Transformation) analysis.
The software model common to all members of the SARah family allows code to be reused across multiple designs and thus considerably saving customers development time. The USB kit which is 5x2 cm in size is available from Rutronik at a price of 49 Euros.
Designed and made in Germany, SARah is a new ADC (analogue/digital converter) family which already consists of 28 individual members, and works on the principle of successive approximation (SAR). The A/D converter family is based on a clearly structured scaleable concept enabling upwards and downwards compatibility between the various members and which offers a wide range of configuration choices.
Designers can select eight, 10 or 12-bit models and versions with different numbers of input channels, with or without internal reference voltages. SARah ADCs are available in two, four and eight channel versions. The common pin-out and software compatibility of the converter models increases the ability of manufacturers to easily develop variants of their system solutions.
Rutronik will sell ZMD products as ZMD's exclusive distributor in Europe.
