Solar technology boosts energy output
07 July 2008
National Semiconductor claims that its SolarMagic photovoltaic technology increases energy output.
By extracting the maximum power efficiency of each photovoltaic panel, even when panels are compromised by shading, debris or dirt accumulation, or a panel mismatch, the company claims the technology recoups up to 50 per cent of the lost energy and opens up more possibilities for locating effective solar panels.
SolarMagic is a per-panel technology that is claimed to maximise power output of multi-panel installations and which is compatible with today’s solar architectures, regardless of the underlying solar cell technology.
The company has entered field trials with REgrid Power, one of the largest solar installers in California.
