Old masters won’t feel the heat

Temperature and humidity data loggers at Bury Art Gallery, Museum and Archive looks after artworks.

The Bury Art Gallery, Museum and Archive uses Lascar’s EL-USB-2 temperature and humidity data loggers to ensure works are kept in the best conditions. Exposure to extremes of heat, cold, aridity or humidity can cause textiles, canvas, wood and materials to deteriorate quickly.
The data logger is designed to record temperature and humidity over a specified period. It plugs into a computer’s USB port and the operator can name it, set alarms and choose a sampling rate. When programmed, it can be put back into a case without impeding the view for it to measure temperature and humidity levels around that exhibit.
When the logger is full, or an alarm light flashes to show an alarm level has been reached, the data logger can be downloaded to a computer and the recordings analysed.
