The Milestone 312 becomes the ears of the blind with music, voice and text to speech functions.

The Milestone 312 is an audio player that can play all popular formats in variable speed levels. It is also a voice recorder and a text to speech player, playing Word documents as well as TXT and HTML files. Audio can be played at different speeds.
The music player can play MP3, AAC, WMA and OGG formats. Recording can be MP3 or WAV and recorded to SD memory card or the internal flash memory. The voice recorder is claimed to record clearly even in noisy environments using the built-in speaker.
The Milestone 312 is the latest in a series of audio players from the Swiss company, Bones. Like the earlier Milestone 311, it can be connected to other players and record audio for playback.
A DAISY player and recorder can be used for talking books, playing in DAISY 2.02 and DAISY 3.0 formats. DAISY (Digital Accessible Information System) is an international consortium that promotes an international standard for digital talking books and aims to make it available to all people with print disabilities at no cost premium.
An integral RFID reader allows the user to read RFID tags, in medication and clothing, for example. For every tagged object, a voice message can be recorded.
The ‘audio engine’ has 1GByte internal flash memory, USB 2.0 high-speed connectivity and an FM radio.
The Milestone has been developed with the Swiss National Association for the Blind and is the size of a credit card, measuring 14mm wide.
