A secure, high-reliability locking SIM connector is aimed at GSM markets.

Manufacturer of passive components and connectors, AVX, has introduced new 5036 series secure, high-reliability locking SIM connectors that are primarily targeted at the GSM market.

The connectors employ a push/push card insertion method, giving a clear indication that a card has been located properly, and feature Card Detection to show that a card is present. All devices in the 5036 series have the push/push locking facility, and a second level of locking can be provided by an optional slide lock version.

The manufacturer claim that the SIM connectors conform to the relevant international standards for SIM cards. Top and bottom metal casing ensures a robust construction and excellent RFI shielding, and optional location pegs simplify hand assembly. The locking system and robustness of the new 5036 SIM connectors mean that they are a cost-effective choice for applications such as utility metering, remote monitoring, machine-to-machine interfacing, asset tracking and data logging. The double locking system makes the connector suitable for secure applications such as in-cabin automotive electronics and medical devices.

Six and eight way versions are available, and theoperating temperature range is -40°C to +85°C, and AVX can offer higher temperature versions as custom products to meet automotive standards.

The connectors are available now through distributor Rutronik.
