High-frequency relays with shielding reduce loss of RF signals.

Fujitsu’s miniature high frequency relay.

Featuring an ultra-miniature design, the FTR-B3-RF high frequency relay was launched by Fujitsu and is available at Rutronik.

The shield around the relay reduces the loss of RF signals and its effect on other components on the board. The metal “armour” of the relay protects the relay from unwanted signal radiation from outside.

The FTR-B3-RF is designed with high frequency characteristics up to 1 GHz (Impedance 50 Ω) which makes the FTR-B3-RF suitable for low signal switching applications such as measuring and medical equipment.

The FTR-B3-RF features a 2 Form C contact utilising bifurcated contacts. The relay has surface mounted terminals and measures 6.7 mm (height) and 97 square mm (mounting area). The relay offers RF switching power of 3 W at 1 Ghz and RF carrying power of 1 W at 1 Ghz. The standard type of the FTR-B3-RF has a power consumption of 140 mW (230 mW at 24 V), while the latching type offers a power consumption of 100 mW (120 mW at 24 V).

Target applications for the FTR-B3-RF are measuring, multiplex wireless, data transmission, medical and radio equipment, digital service units for ATM, general RF low signal switching and RF Attenuators.
