Elan Digital’s tried and tested VMB5000A bridge device is finding brand new and exciting applications in the mobile device market.

As the wireless communications market continues to expand and develop more and more sophisticated products, so the need to extend the capabilities of standard mobile device platforms increases. Because of its inherent versatility and flexibility Elan Digital’s tried and tested VMB5000A bridge device is finding brand new and exciting applications in the mobile device market.
For example, in the China TDSCMA market where existing GSM/WCDMA products need to be updated with additional radio support, the VMB5000A can be directly connected to the processor system memory bus to provide 2 USB ports which can host additional radio devices.
The addition of WiMAX capability is another potentially imminent application as its market penetration accelerates.
It is also possible to configure the VMB5000A to provide 2 USB plus 1 UART port or 2 UART ports (1 high speed).
The device also has on-board flash memory.
Full data and application details are available from the Elan website.
The VMB5000A is available now in volume, combining very low power and low cost.
Elan Digital provides direct technical support worldwide and has sales representation in most major markets.
