Video analytics solution combined with Blackfin enables development of intelligent cameras.

With leading camera developers worldwide already designing its Blackfin processor into surveillance and machine vision cameras, Analog Devices (ADI) announced the availability of IntelliVision’s video analytics and intelligence solutions for Blackfin. IntelliVision’s video analytics solutions are used extensively in automated monitoring, surveillance and security solutions to identify and react to suspicious activities without the need for operator intervention. The combination of these two technologies enables engineers to develop intelligent cameras based on proven and mature software modules that are cost effective and optimised for Blackfin. The processor has become a popular choice for camera makers who need high performance video processing, compression and streaming along with low power consumption and easy design.

The Blackfin-based Intelligent Video modules initially available include: Intrusion Detection, Video Counter, Object Left Detector, Asset Protector, and Camera Tamper Detection. Additional modules will be available over the course of the calendar year.
