Be impressed – then choose the best!

18 August 2009

A stunning array of entries has yielded a stunning collection of finalists for Electronic Products Design’s e-Legacy Awards 2009. Now its your turn to choose this year’s cream of the crop.

Tim FryerThrough both this newsletter and our monthly magazine we have, over the past few months, been celebrating last year’s outstanding e-Lgacy finalists to stimulate companies, designers and suppliers to put forward their own projects for this year’s competition. And we have not been disappointed – the quality of the entries has been hugely impressive and selecting the finalists in each category has been a fascinating but challenging task. A judging panel taken from industry, the sponsors and the editorial team of EPD, has however, reached its decision, and the selected finalists are featured on the e-Legacy section of the EPD website.
It is clear from the scope and the quantity of entries received that there are many companies and individuals who are driven by more than just profits – or at least are discovering ethical ways of achieving them. And of course there are the companies developing products that can really make a difference to society either by the positive impact that they do make, or the negative effects that they obviate. All of the EPD team would like to thank everyone who took the time to enter.
There were obviously some entries that caught my eye and all of the judges will have their favourites, but our job, and influence, is over. Now it is time for you, our readers, to make their voices heard and recognise the achievements of your peers. We have summarised the finalists’ entries so that you can choose your favourites, and then voting is conducted on our website – www.EPDontheNET.net/awards.aspx. It is this combination of expert judges and the public vote that gives the e-Legacy awards their credence, so please take the time to vote for your favourites. Registering your vote online takes only a few seconds and you can vote in as many of the categories as you want.
Winners will be announced at the Awards Luncheon on 4th November 2009, which will take place in the delightful surroundings of the Kensington Roof Gardens in London. Beyond being a celebration of what is good in the electronics design industry, this is a worthwhile networking event in its own right – and you don’t have to be a finalist to attend. If you would like to join us then please contact Abby Walton (01732 359990 or abby.walton@imlgroup.co.uk) to enquire about booking seats or tables. Hope to see you there!
