SoundStage software selected

Wolfson Microelectronics has stated that its SoundStage software has been selected by BBK Electronics.
As one of China's leading mobile phone providers, the company aims to take the audio quality of its handsets to new levels.
Wolfson's licence agreement with BBK incorporates various elements of the SoundStage software, including the Virtual Surround System that uses advanced psychoacoustic processing to transform the audio quality played through the headphones. This creates the sensation of virtual speakers positioned around the listener.
Further benefits include HD Bass which significantly enhances the bass boost resulting in great audio from small, portable speakers such as those in a mobile phone; and HD Treble, which subtly enhances the treble frequencies and adds emphasis to the sound without distorting the audio.
As well as Virtual Surround Sound, HD Bass and HD Treble, other elements of Wolfson SoundStage include ReTune, which maximises stereo and mono speaker performance, and Auto Gain Control, which optimises playback volume for a more enjoyable listening experience.
Wolfson SoundStage modules have been specifically designed for portable devices to ensure low power consumption, as well as low processor and low memory requirements. The software has already been installed in over 80 million mobile handsets and gaming devices. Indeed, in addition to offering solutions for mobile handsets, Wolfson SoundStage modules can also be easily incorporated into laptops, portable media players, flat panel televisions, and docking stations.
