The mouse is the latest addition to a range that includes the Esterline Medigenic infection-resistant keyboard that is made of the same pliant silicone-based material.

The Medigenic range has been designed to reduce the spread of infectious diseases. Traditional keyboards and pointing devices have lots of small gaps where bacteria can hide and multiply, making them high-risk areas, especially in medical environments. The Medigenic keyboard and new scroll mouse have no raised or recessed surfaces and are covered with a latex-free hypo-allergenic material. The pointing device can be rinsed and disinfected as required and the ergonomic design features standard left, middle and right button functionality, along with scrolling buttons.

The Medigenic keyboard has a flat design that can be quickly cleaned in place with hospital grade disinfectants. Users can touch-type with tactile key response and the device features an alert system that reminds users to clean the keyboard at regular intervals.

Mark Broadhead, General Manager of APC Contech said: “The new infection-resistant scroll mouse is a great addition to the Medigenic offering. The Medigenic keyboard has already helped medical professionals in the fight against infections like MRSA and this new device will allow increased functionality. We are happy to offer interested parties a two week free trial of the Medigenic keyboard and mouse so customers can experience the usability and versatility before buying the product.”
