Wireless gateway to replace RS232 cable
07 June 2010
The SWG-RS232-500 is the latest long range Smart Wireless Gateway from Y-Lynx.
It is capable of transferring up to 20 kilometres away and so it’s able to replace miles of cable in industrial applications.
“Thanks to several technology innovations in semiconductor as well as in software development, it has never been so easy to access wireless communication over long distance. In addition, complex topology network is also achievable with a minimum configuration time spent on the SWG-RS232-500,” said Gael Coron CEO of Y-Lynx. “Now, replacing cables with wireless technology becomes cost effective and efficient. Applications are everywhere, there are so many wire communications between devices using the RS232 standard that can be easily be replaced with a wireless bridge.”
A sensitivity level of -114dBm and an output power of +27dBm give the SWG-RS232-500 the best budget link (-141dBm) available. This effectively avoids the use of repeaters.
Software selectable settings allow users to customise all parameters offered by the embedded TRM8053-500 wireless module. This permits the SWG-RS232-500 to fit to any and diverse wireless applications such as battery operated systems not only by an efficient power management but also with additional features allowing sending a message on time only to several clients without any collisions.
SWG-RS232-500 is housed in an aluminium casing. Accepting power supply from 4V to 24V, it gives a high level of flexibility and can be adapted to most existing RS232 installations.
