Creating a legacy is in your hands

12 July 2010

The second and most important phase of the
e-Legacy awards is now underway. This is where our readers join in - it's time to have your say on the best projects in our industry.

Tim Fryer

We launched the programme back when we were still in the grip of our icy winter, and many members of the electronics industry obviously decided that the ideal way to keep warm was to write up accounts of their industry leading projects and entering them for the e-Legacy awards.

The quality, quantity and diversity of projects entered is a credit to our industry and selecting the finalists in each category has been a fascinating but challenging task. A judging panel taken from industry, the sponsors and the editorial team of EPD, has however, reached its decision, and the selected finalists are featured on www.EPDontheNET.net/awards.aspx.

It is clear from the scope and the quantity of entries received that there are many companies and individuals who are driven by more than just profits – or at least are discovering ethical ways of achieving them. And of course there are the companies developing products that can really make a difference to society either by the positive impact that they do make, or the negative effects that they obviate. All of the EPD team would like to thank everyone who took the time to enter.

It is the combination of expert judges and the public vote that gives the e-Legacy awards their credence, so please take the time to vote for your favourites. Registering your vote online takes only a few seconds and you can vote in as many of the categories as you want.

Winners will be announced at the Awards Luncheon on 9th September 2010, which will take place in the delightful surroundings of the Kensington Roof Gardens in London. Beyond being a celebration of what is good in the electronics design industry, this is a worthwhile networking event in its own right – and you don’t have to be a finalist to attend. If you would like to join us then please contact Liz Marchant (01732 359 990 or liz.marchant@imlgroup.co.uk) to enquire about booking seats or tables.

As a bonus, we are putting all voters into an ‘electronic hat’ and will randomly draw a name to see who will get two free tickets to the Awards Luncheon. If the winner has already purchased tickets we will of course refund the cost of the tickets.

Please play your part in e-Legacy 2010 and vote today at http://www.epdonthenet.net/awards_vote.aspx.

Many thanks.
