Powerstax targets EMEA markets
02 November 2010
The company’s latest rugged vehicle power supply will be on show at electronica 2010.

electronica 2010 will see the launch of the new Powerstax TVS1001 rugged up-converter designed for use in military tactical vehicle systems for operations in remote locations and non-tactical vehicle security systems.
The TVS1001 offers system integrators a rugged and reliable power supply to provide power from vehicle batteries or generators to supply critical equipment in any vehicle or mobile installation. Based on the Powerstax F501 patented DC:DC converter, the TVS1001 offers up to 1000W of DC output power while maintaining maximum output efficiency over a very wide operating temperature range.
In the TVS1001, two F501 converters are packaged with a boost converter, filtering, protection, storage circuitry and connectors. The ultra-high efficiency of Powerstax’s F501 converters maximises source battery life and reduces thermal management requirements. In addition, a custom developed boost-converter is integrated into the design to provide input voltage boost when conditions require it. Multiples of TVS1001 converters may be configured in N+1 redundant systems for no-break power applications.
The Powerstax TVS1001 allows high power demand tactical and security equipment to be used in tactical and non-tactical vehicles safely and reliably in demanding military and commercial operational environments. Typical applications include military and commercial mobile wireless and radar systems, telecom infrastructure and security systems powered from vehicle batteries or static telecom supplies.
”We will be fielding a powerful line up of both products and people at this year’s electronica” comments Tim Worley, CEO of Powerstax plc. “In addition to our customary strong engineering and sales team from the UK we will also have on our booth Lonnie Friend, our recently appointed Director of Sales for North America and Ron Josephson, CEO of Power Guide Marketing, our principle Rep for the USA. In addition to the EMEA launch of our new TVS1001 tactical vehicle power supply a wide range of our highly energy efficient and flexible power solutions will be on display at electronica.”
The Powerstax TVS1001 carries a two year warranty and outline specifications are, input Voltage Range 11-36VDC, output voltage factory set between 12 to 48V (typically 28VDC), maximum output power of 1000W, efficiency up to 85%, and dimensions of 400mm x 151mm x 88mm.
At electronica 2010, Powerstax will also be showing their range of standard and custom AC and DC power solutions for centralised and distributed power (DPA) in a range of applications, including hot swap front end AC-DC bulk power, DC-DC converter bricks and programmable, modular rack mounted Power Supplies, for use in Telecoms, Datacoms, IT, Industrial, Test and Control, Transportation, Avionic, Defence, Medical and all commercial markets.
