Ultra stable TCXO targets femtocells and base stations
01 February 2011
Precision Devices’ TS05 is an ultra stable temperature compensated crystal oscillator (TCXO).

It provides exceptional stability of only ±0.2ppm over an operating temperature range of -40°C to +85°C. And when operating over a restricted temperature range of -10°C to 70°C, stability is even lower at ±0.1ppm.
Stability is ±0.05ppm for supply voltage variations up to 5%, and for load variations up to 10%. With ageing, the maximum change is only ±0.5ppm per year, to ensure reliable long-term performance.
The new oscillator, which comes in a 5mm x 3.2mm x 1.5mm package, also has excellent phase noise characteristics. At a frequency of 26MHz, typical phase noise figures are -117dBc/Hz at an offset of 100Hz, -138dBc/Hz at an offset of 1kHz and -152dBc/Hz at an offset of 10kHz.
Targeted at femtocell and base station applications, the TS05 covers the frequency range from 10MHz to 52MHz.
The oscillator operates from a 3 V supply voltage, and draws 2 mA current when generating a clipped sinewave output, and 4 mA when generating a CMOS squarewave output.
The new TS05 precision oscillator can be supplied in 1000 units on tape and reel and is available immediately.
