Analog Devices’ audio/video front-end enables cinema-quality sound and picture in home theatre designs.

ADI has announced the release of a highly integrated AV front-end for home theatre designs that depend on superior AV processing and HDMI (High-Definition Multimedia Interface) specification version 1.4 support for 3D display resolutions. ADI’s ADV7850 Complete AV Front-end is designed for improving video image, colour quality and audio clarity in advanced HD systems, including HDTVs, AV receivers, video switchers and projectors. The ADV7850 joins ADI’s portfolio of Advantiv advanced TV solutions.
In addition, the ADV7850 contains the industry’s first integrated HDMI receiver to support THX Media Director embedded metadata using multiple Vendor Specific Infoframes (VSIs) facilitating easy implementation by CE manufacturers into Blu-ray players, AV receivers, TVs and projectors. THX Media Director is a technology that transforms movies, music, games and other digital media into ‘smart content’ that enables AV components to auto-select the most appropriate audio and video playback settings, preserving artistic intent.
ADI’s ADV7850 Complete AV Front-end offers a 3D comb video decoder with an integrated 170 MHz video and graphics digitiser for HD 1080p input formats. The AV front end’s 3D comb video decoder offers superior processing resolution for motion detection and 3D comb filtering operations without the added cost and design complexity of discrete chip solutions.
Complete with ADI’s proprietary Xpressview fast-switching HDMI technology, the highly-integrated AV front-end integrates four key components, including a graphics and video digitiser, 3D comb video decoder, HDMI receiver and stereo audio codec, providing designers with a complete single-chip solution that reduces time to market on new home theatre designs.
The ADV7850 supports HDCP repeater applications and can also be operated as a HDMI transceiver.
