Latest 45mm diameter maxon flat motor delivers 38% more torque

maxon motor has unveiled a powerful new 70 watt addition to its popular range of brushless flat motors, boasting 38% more torque than the 50 W version, from the same 45mm diameter.
maxon's EC 45 flat series is already highly prized among engineers developing robotics, self-contained drives and industrial automation systems, enabling impressive performance within a compact design.
The new, high power 70 W version further develops this strength, delivering 130 mNm continuous torque, at an efficiency of up to 85%, with an extremely flat speed/torque gradient.
Remarkably, the upgraded motor features the same, proven flange pattern, fixation and socket that have been tried and tested so successfully in the existing 50 watt flat motor.
The EC 45 flat 70 W is available in a choice of four windings (24, 30, 36 and 48 volt) and is available with Hall sensors.
Moreover, maxon motor’s modular system means the new motor is instantly compatible with no fewer than 54 planetary and spur gearheads, as well as a comprehensive selection of servo and positioning controller options.
maxon motor UK senior sales engineer Ian Bell said: “The beauty of our brushless flat motors is they’re based on a simple, well-thought out, proven design – making them incredibly reliable and surprisingly economical.
“Design engineers tend to choose our 45mm flat motors because they want incredibly high torque in a tight space – so I’m sure the new, more powerful version will prove a very popular addition.”
